(Mentmore Golf & Country Club, Leighton Buzzard – November 2009) Mentmore Golf & Country Club members and staff putt their bodies on the line as they successfully completed their Charity ‘Spinathon’ in October.
The ‘Spinathon’ which consisted of 16 riders was held on Sunday 18th October and took place in the Indoor Cycling studio at Mentmore Golf & Country Club. All riders pushed their bodies and fitness levels to the extreme and successfully rode continuously for 4 whole hours!
Melanie Harvey, Head Spin Instructor of Mentmore Golf & Country Club, said: “We are all ecstatic about our achievement and so pleased we could raise money for the charity through this event. The team faired extremely well and I think the structured pre event training was vital to our success today. Next year we will have to make it slightly harder and ride for 5 hours!” Melanie and her team raised an impressive £816 through donations and sponsorship of the event.
The chosen charity that will be benefitting from the money raised will be Wooden Spoon - Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of the rugby world. For 25 years Spoon has harnessed the spirit and values of rugby to give disadvantaged children in Britain and Ireland a chance to achieve their full potential in life.
