Champion Pairing – Sylvia Grey and Steve Williams

(Mentmore Golf & Country Club, Leighton Buzzard – September 2009) Mentmore Golf & Country Club hosted its annual ‘Summer Tennis Tournament’ on Sunday 30th September.

The annual Tennis Tournament was played in testing weather conditions on the hard-court tennis courts at Mentmore Golf & Country Club. The tournament was well attended with 24 members braving the weather to try and take the honours.

The day ran exceptionally well and could have been confused with Wimbledon as players enjoyed the tennis, champagne and strawberries and cream that were on offer. The competition was fierce throughout the morning, culminating in a well fought final where Steve Williams and Sylvia Grey defeated the pairing of Jo Garvin and Julie Stanley 6 – 3 in the final set.

Mentmore Golf & Country Club are offering ‘Mentmore Mini Aces’ for children who are looking to take up tennis or improve their current tennis skills. The sessions are on a roll up basis but can be booked through reception on 01296 662020.
