Mentmore Golf & Country Club hosted the first of two junior summer golf camps on the 3rd to the 5th August. The camps were well attended with over 30 local children enjoying all the golfing activities.

‘Golf Fever’ was successfully launched at Mentmore Golf & Country Club on the 3rd of August. The initiative, which gets its name from the well established ‘Football Fever’ summer camps, was a great success with over 30 young budding golfers taking to the facilities at Mentmore Golf & Country Club over the 3 days.

Stuart Stedman, founder of Football Fever, said: “I have been very pleased with the Golf this week; the children have really enjoyed it! Five parents I have spoken to directly have said how much fun the children have had! Indeed, when I left today one of the parents was enquiring about membership at Reception! I am looking forward to the Golf Fever camp at the end of the month.”

The course structure is based around the basics of golf where the children will learn the basic setup, the golf grip and fundamentals of the golf swing. The course provides a fun and safe environment to learn the wonderful skills of the game of golf. Throughout the course the young golfers get to sample the fantastic practice facilities that Mentmore has to offer which include the driving range, practice bunker, putting green and the new Tri-Golf equipment.

Alistair Halliday, Head professional at Mentmore Golf & Country Club, said: “I was very pleased with the amount of young aspiring golfers that took part in the course. It is great to see children of all ages looking to take up a sport such as golf. I am pleased with the result of the last few days where we have achieved our goal of providing good tuition as well as keeping it fun and engaging for the children. I wonder who is going to win the Junior Golf Membership that is up for grabs at the end of the next camp.”

Mentmore Golf & Country club will be hosting the second of its Golf Fever summer camps on the 25th, 26th and 27th of August. Please call the pro shop on 01296 662020 to make your booking as spaces are limited.
