The very popular Mentmore Craft Fayre is to return – this year to Mentmore Golf and Country Club.
The Craft Fayre will be sited on the driving range consisting of a cluster of marquees displaying various stalls specialising in fine arts, crafts and homemade foods.
This is an excellent opportunity for the Club to raise extra revenue to facilitate the ongoing improvements to Mentmore Golf & Country Club for the benefit of all members. In addition there will be opportunities to help the Captains’ chosen charity by way of a buggy shuttle service from car park to the Craft Fayre entrance, exhibitor accommodation, a charity donation stand within the Fayre and a charity function on the Friday evening.
We have had in-depth discussions with the Members’ committee and the Event Management Company on ways to run this event safely and efficiently with minimum impact on our members. However, it is inevitable that there will be some slight disruption throughout the weekend in two particular areas; namely the entrance drive to the club and parking. We plan to manage these with our members’ best interests at heart.
Entrance to Club (drive) - Due to an increased number of vehicles and the fact that the 8th, 9th & 18th holes on the Rothschild course are in close proximity to the road there will be a traffic flow management procedure in place. This will be managed by allowing a certain amount of cars into the club at regular intervals allowing golfers to play freely eliminating the risk of hitting cars off the tee shots. Vice versa – we will be placing marshals on the tee to hold back golfers whilst vehicles are coming through the drive.
Parking - Additional parking will be made available for the Craft Fayre and this will be located above the overflow car park between the Rothschild 3rd and Rosebery 9th. We have established that there is more than sufficient space available for the purposes of the Craft Fayre. Members will always have preferential parking in the main car park over visitors. This process will also be heavily and securely managed and it is advised that you produce your membership card to secure a preferential parking space. It would also be recommended that you allow more time than usual for your tee times to offset possible delays.
Tee Boxes and pin positioning – We expect to change a few hole positions and tee boxes for the weekend to further eliminate risk of golf balls striking people and/ or vehicles.
Driving Range Closure – The driving range will be closed throughout the event and will need to be closed for setup and clear up of the event as well. We will be providing a warm up net with complimentary golf balls on each first tee during this range closure.
We are very pleased to have the opportunity to host such a prestigious event at Mentmore Golf & Country Club and are looking forward to experiencing the quality crafts and arts that it has to offer. ACF Ltd. (Event Management Company) is very excited to be holding their event at Mentmore and have offered all Mentmore Golf & Country Club members a half price discount at the gates on presentation of their MGCC membership card.
I trust all members will embrace the Craft Fayre and enjoy all the splendours that it has to offer.
